SPRING LAMBS
An increase in number on the week with trade very similar on the week, with a top price of £229 for smart heavy weight Texel cross from S Wilson & Son, Scotforth. Other heavy weight lambs from P&V Bennet sold to £224 also for Texels. W Garnett & Son, Milnthorpe saw their consignment of quality lambs top at £222 or 483p/kg for Texels, with EJ&PE Burrow, Storth breaking the £200 barrier for continental bred lambs. A&E Clarkson, Thurnham sold lighter weight Texel lambs to 492p/kg for a pen full of Texels.
An overall average of 450p/kg was achieved with more weight being on show this week - Keep these lambs coming to Lancaster!

PRIME HOGGS
Prime hoggs saw a very mixed entry of hoggs ranging from 28kg to 80kg, with an overall average 375p/kg heavy achieved.
A top price of £229 was achieved for Texels from D Clarke, Woodplumpton. T Taylor, Preston was not for behind at £227 for continental hoggs. Plenty of the heavy weight hoggs were around the £205 to £210.
Handy weight hoggs were the best to sell, with GM&A Jackson, Little Eccleston achieving 468p/kg or £206 for 44kg Beltex, with this good home also selling handy weight Cheviots to £187 or 435p/kg and Scotch Blackface to 414p/kg.
Hoggs will be required next Monday for the up coming festival.

CULL SHEEP
A jump in numbers as vendors look to sell the ewes that lamb have gone fat.
Topping the trade today was GR&RA Surtees, Stodday with their Texel ewes achieving £226. Other Texel ewes achieved £220 from GH Sanderson & Family, Catforth. Mule ewes from A&E Clarkson, Thurnham sold £186, with meated Mules to £184 from D&E Whittaker, Quernmore.
Dutch Spotted achieved £200 from I Richardson, Catforth. Suffolk ewes sold £198 from KA Purtill, Wigan. Teeswater to £212 from T&D Wright, Wray with Dalesbred ewes from the same home to £140 and Swaledales to £122 from E Parker, Mewith.

BREEDING SHEEP
Another strong entry of ewes and lambs here at Lancaster, as the Monday morning sale gains in popularity for buyers and sellers.
A consignment of Dutch Spotted ewes with lambs from Myerscough College, Garstang created plenty of interest with their consignment topping at £415 for a hogg and single lamb. One crop ewes with single lambs sold to £315 per family.
Today was the second hogg and lamb sale, with Mule hoggs with Texel lambs being the order of the day, topping at £405 from J Bargh, Heaton with Oxcliffe with others from this good home achieving £395. William Gardner’s consignment of Mule hoggs topped at £360 for a single Mule hogg with Texel lamb, with others from this same good home at £355 for a pen of five Mule hoggs with single Texel lambs and others at £346.
Ian Richardson, Catforth had his usually entry of Texel cross aged ewes with super posh Beltex lambs topping at £380 for a ewe with twin lambs. While his cracking ewes with single lambs topped at £365 per family, with this vendors consignment averaging £158 per life.
Hill bred ewes today would saw Stockdale Farms, Sedbergh achieve £300 for aged Cheviot cross ewes with twin Beltex lambs.
